Re: Black silicone removed?
if you have a die grinder could use a soft wire wheel or wire brush to get most of it off then just hit it with some goof off and clean it real well then paint the area to prevent rust

Re: Black silicone removed?
better make sure you have a spare windshield first... when its silicone in removal is tough without cracking it up
razorblade on the glass to remove silicone if you get it out ok and then as described above for the metal side |
Re: Black silicone removed?
Silicone will rust out metal.... I would try solvent before the grinder(goo be gone...thinnner)....unless you are going to paint it..

Re: Black silicone removed?
I would suggest trying an eraser wheel in a die grinder. I have used it on stripes so it might work on silicone. It won't hurt the paint.

Re: Black silicone removed?
My 87 was the same way , what I found after removing black goo was scary. There was rust everywhere in window channel. But actually removing the goo wasn`t too bad , after the initial cut it peeled out fairly easy.
