The way I did it was bring it to a small body shop around the corner. They did all of the door weatherstrip for $200....I supplied the parts.

I got a tube of water based KY jelly, which made it an easy job. What's a real bummer is after all the effort to rebuild the vent windows the repro seals started cracking within 6 months of being exposed to the sun.

Haven't done the 67-72 yet but we're planning on it. We did 73-80 which are similar and will give you the idea on how to tackle it.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Derek - Wanted to let y'all know that the current replacement 67-72 vent rubber cracks after a very short time in the sun (6 months more or less). Not sure what feedback you've had re: your 73-80 vent rubber. If you do reproduce 67-72 vent rubber please go with a long lasting rubber formula maybe that similar the windshield gasket. Thanks, Pete

Thanks for the feedback Pete. I can confirm that Precision uses the same rubber used on the front windshield is the same on the vent weatherstrips.

What brand is this cracking happening with?

Derek -

Sorry I cant recall which brand. For what it's worth, these were purchased by a board vendor who I believe sells the best available products. It's disappointing to say the least after expending the effort to rebuild the vent windows to have them crack so quickly. Consequently, I went through a lot of effort and $$ to obtain NOS pieces for my K20 build.

Another area you may wish to investigate are the gaskets for door handles and locks. The reproduction pieces also quickly dissolve in the sun (NOS examples are now $45-55). The originals were more of a gasket material than rubber. This is a possible area for growth for Precision: if you can match OEM quality you'll easily corner the market.

Good luck,

Pete
