Look what I found in the woody (Blazer)...

Well when I bought the '77 it had a Kenwood deck and pair of some crappy surface mounted speakers sitting loose on the rear of the floor. The speakers were in pretty bad shape and sounded worse...so I pitched them (I am going to buy new ones), but while I was "cleaning" I noticed there were four speaker wires and two of them were coming from the side panel behind the tire (a different location from the other two). My curiosity got the best of me so i pulled the panel and look what I found...

I think this is pretty cool because I never knew it was there and the PO never told me about it. I might be spending more on "speakers" than I thought :)

Does anyone have any info on this amp? Is it a decent amp?

Just thought you guys and girls would like to see this. :)

Want the manual for it, in .pdf (adobe acrobat) form. I can email it to you, just PM me.

Here is the manual for your amp.
ftp://docs.kenwoodusa.com/manuals/OM...-1993-KUSA.pdf

It is either a 45x4 watt amp or an 80x4 watt amp, I've had conflicting reports, but the bulk state that it is 45x4 watt. This would make some awesome 6x9 sound or subwoofer sound with the equalizer...

That's a nice find Jeff. Wonder though if the amp is getting enough cooling being restricted there behind the panel. Those heatsinks got to be cooking back there.

Thanks guys for the replies...TJ...I PM'd you.

ZiDigi...I can't get the link to work. :(

I think I will move it out from behind there and either mount it under the seat or save it for Yeller. :)

Hell of a find Jeff. nice place to hide it as well but I also wonder about the heat factor there.

BigRed 06-10-2003 08:26 AM

Happy Birthday to you! :) If you could rig up an in and out fan in that panel, that would work great for keeping it cool.

Prerunner1982 06-10-2003 08:45 AM

could put small computer fans like mike did in his console in there.

The two crappy speakers were running off the deck...which is a Kenwood two-post deck (I am sure it is pretty cheesey). I am sure there were subs in back at one time running off the amp.

The rating on the amp is probabaly not the rms rating. That is likely the max output. Go with some 6x9s and a set of speakers up front. You can run it bridged at 2ohm stereo and get a little more power out of it. Likely the 2 post radio only has one set of preouts if any at all therfore it would be useless to run it in 4 channel mode as you would not have a fade option any way. If you decide to add a diffrent head unit get one with front and rear pre outs and run 2 rca cables that way you can run the amp in 4 ch mode and control front to rear fade. I would not run a set of subs from this amp as I beleive that you would NOT be happy with the results.
