Which motor mount?
I'll be dropping a SBC into my '52, stock frame, TCI MII front suspesion, power rack, typical mounting plates on the frame. Which motor mount(s) will work best, the pipe-type or something else? I've dont some measuring, it seems the mounts will be right at the MII mounting place on the frame...possibly. Any help (maybe with pics)? Thanks for all replies.

Re: Which motor mount?
Your other option is biscuit style mounts. I bought these from chassis engineering. Their instructions for locating them didnt work for me, but they are easily adaptable. You will need the cp-1160g to go with your boxed rails. I chose this style because of their simplicity.

Re: Which motor mount?
Your motor mount points on the block do sit above the crossmember with the MII setup making it easier to use the MII crossmember to hold at least one end of the mounts.
Ogre's setup leaves a lot of room for exhaust clearance which is a big plus. |

Anyone use the pipe type?

Re: Which motor mount?
The ones in my 55 GMC are built like that except they 90* back over the frame and are built out of 2" X 1/8" flat stock with pipe spacers for the SBC motor mounts, I built them to bolt into X member and frame.
I could not find any pics, but they have been in there for 6 years and over 50K miles and the motor mounts, and are still working great. |
