Rear wheel bearings

Any suggestion for pulling the seal, bearing and outer race? Specifically I guess the most difficult part would be the race. My left side bearing is completely trashed and the truck is down.

TIA

Yep, pull the axle out, rent a bearing puller and tap the new one in. Pretty simple, I did mine about a year ago.

I did gears in an 87 Blazer about a year ago. The bearing races and actually galled into the housing. I break the slide hammer puller and never budged it. I was fortunate that I had the diff out, and used an 8' piece of black pipe from one side, through the diff, and up to the race, then beat the crap out of it with the proverbial BFH. Hopefully yours comes out with the puller...

Well here's a little trick...if you have access to a welder, weld a bead all the way around on the face of the race. It will "shrink" the race and it come out very easy. Be sure to stuff wet rags in the axle tube, and protect the area in front of the race with heavy tape or anti-splatter spray. Works like a charm.
