How Should I Raise This Truck?
1 Attachment(s)
Guys, This truck has to come up. I can't even get it into my local Kwik-Car for an oil change since it is so low. This truck is new to me and has the fliped rear end / with a front Camero Clip. Now the question is how best to raise it. In the front I would assume I could just install new coils, since they were cut, how much is unknown, ( no dropped spindles ). In the rear, I was thinking I could undo the flip and go back to stock and then do blocks if needed. I would like to bring it up 2" front and 3" or so in the rear. At the rear bed step it is 7.5" at the bottom to the floor. I talked with a local shop and they said just re-arch the rear springs. Wouldn't the re-arch move the mounting points inward on the flat plane. Help, I stupid on this subject.

I guess I could do my own oil changes....Just haven't done that in years, even with all of my past hotrods. Maybe I need to make some personal changes in regards to this. The truck actually rides and drives real well. I know....:waah: Pics...I got pics, just in the garage though. Haven't had too much time to get out....just been going over this and fixin problems along the way. I'll get more pics later when it warms up a bit. Shes running a Ram-Jet 350 / 700R-4, 10 bolt posi 373 and leaves two real nice strips when needed.

A Porterbuilt Dropmember & 4link would take that thing to the next level!! Beautiful truck Joe!

Re: How Should I Raise This Truck?
Putting the rear axle below the spring will make a block useless... unless you want it taller... that's how the 4x4 guys who don't want to buy new springs lift their trucks.

Re: How Should I Raise This Truck?
Yeah i would do my own oil changes i use to work at a garage and seen a few mess up a oil change before. Some forgot to chain the oil filter one he always left the plug out of the oil pan lol.Your idea to raise it up will work but most of us will tell you to air bag it tho.The front would be bolt in the rear will take some welding to bag.

Re: How Should I Raise This Truck?
Get a 2x8, and cut it down so you can use it as a quick ramps at the oil change places.
I have a 70 Nova That had almost a 4-4 drop, and I had to make ramps just to get a low profile jack underneath it. I found 2 inches was usually enough for most situations, and if you need you could double stack the ends. |
Re: How Should I Raise This Truck?
I think it's just right! I have to jack up a framrail just to get a low profile jack under my crossmember. Forget trailering or the oil change place...
