I don't want to build thread (lots of pics)

well I was messing with one of my friends in his new mustang and well all of a sudden i get a huge bag and the truck shuts off. Turns out the balancer decided that it wanted to be in a million pieces, basically it was like a bomb went off under the hood, hole in the hood dents everywhere and everything on the front of the engine was cracked, bent or destroyed. So the front clip has to be painted and well while I'm at I figured I might as well fix every dint scuff and scratch will be fixed.

So now I have bought a hood and done a little body work

http://i862.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps54dc8edd.jpg
this was one of the worst hoods I've dealt with. I had to weld beat on it to get a decent gap

man, that stinks...but looks like you're making it even better! I've heard those cowl hoods don't fit well at all. Hope I can see the truck in person at some point. I am working on setting up a customer in Abingdon so I'll be riding through Wytheville monthly if I do...

I haven't updated this thread in awhile but around the end of August I finally had enough... I was tired of seeing my truck in a tore apart so I got off my lazy but and got to work. Once I really got into it I started to find some problem area I wasn't quite aware of so its been been quite the task. Basically Ive taken the truck almost all the way apart and am painting the entire thing minus the fire wall and inside of the cab. here is just a quick run down and a few pics( mostly taken in the last week or so) of what I've done and what is in the works.

Rust repair
rear fenders -mounting flange was replaced
doors - bottom skin was replaced
door jam-smoothed and small rust areas were replaced

Body mods
shaved antenna
smoothed door jams
cut rockers for better alignment
LH fender was cut for better alignment
replaced seam sealer in gutter
Pop up gas cap for wood in the bed
rear fender lips rolled for tire and wheel clearance

Engine bay and performance
new valve covers and breather
plugs and plug wires
rad cover
restored heater box
wiring clean up- plug wires routed under headers
rewired a few misc. things
refinished radiator support
custom 3inch tail pipes
New top fill gas thank for under the bed

Suspension
C notch installed
rear drop springs (rear total drop 7 inches)
shock relocation
adjustable track bar

In the works
New wood for the bed- I think Im going with black walnut
wheel tubs for the bed
new wheels
new seat and door panels
repaint the frame
tubular control arms
new shocks
Maybe new mufflers
PAINT!!!-no more flames just a straight 2 tone

Boy that balancer did a lot of damage. It makes me think I better look at mine. Did it give you any reason it might be going out? I have not cranked up my 4 bolt 350 yet. I rebuilted the 350 but used the old balancer. Just thought I would ask. Did it do any damage to the enging?

Re: I don't want to build thread (lots of pics)

Nope, no warning at all. it was a new stock balancer when I built the first engine and I used it on the new 406 which has quite a bit more power than the old one. I guess it just wasn't up to the task of spinning 6500 rpm's. Any engine I build for now on will have a good high performance balancer on it.

Re: I don't want to build thread (lots of pics)

made a little bit of progress this week. I got the rear end and back half of the frame cleaned and painted, the new track bar installed and rear centered. Some of the sheet metal hung for final alignment and tweets before paint.
