Hei?
Forgive me if this is a dumb question
Ic alot of guys are going with hei distributors what do I need for a pretty stock setup 350 I believe it's out of an 80's truck Posted via Mobile Device |
Re: Hei?
You need the hei distributor... Pretty much it. I have an hei on my big block. Just make sure all your advances and everything are the same as what you're replacing. Makes the swap easier.

Re: Hei?
The only dumb question is the one that's not asked. Good luck with the swap, should only take about 20 minutes total. Also, if you've never dug into a motor... Hit up YouTube and search for what you want to do. Tons of genius mechanics on there who show you step by step what to do. But also be weary of the back woods type boys as well.

Re: Hei?
You tube is a god send I got a good home mechanic I'm hoping will help me. He has 3 of these trucks one of which. He made into a cool boom truck
Thanks everyone Posted via Mobile Device |
Re: Hei?
One additional note. You need HEI style plug wires also. The old conventional point style distributor has different ends.
Buy them for a 75 Chevy Pickup with a 350 and you will be good. |
Re: Hei?
If my truck was here I might not sound so dumb cause I could look lol but I'm sure the motor is out if an 80's truck would it already be set up this way?

Also, re-gap your plugs from .035 to .045. |
Re: Hei?
He did alot of goofy things. Didn't wire up the alternator left the wires rolled up sitting on the manifold.
Should have never bought from a mechanic lol. Just like my dad being an electrician and our house was a wire nightmare. This mechanic jimmy rigged his own truck lol Posted via Mobile Device |
