quadra jet carb

My truck has a lovely quadra squirt on it. never seems to idle, start, run properly.
Don't get me wrong she ALWAYS starts but some times it takes a while,or i have to floor it while it spits and spuders to even out.

worth the rebuild? i'm not into speed or all that so putting on a holly or edlebrock seem kinda pointless for me.... or is there OEM replacements?

Thanks

i'd stick with the q-jet if i were you then. it's definately worth trying a rebuild for the price of the kit, i've tried parts store replacement carbs and have had problems with those too.

I recently had a quadrajet I had lying around rebuilt and you would not believe the difference. If you don't want to do it yourself or don't know someone locally, I'd reach out to Ted at Mountain Man Carburetors.
http://stores.ebay.com/Mountain-Man-...etors-Fuel-Inj

I had a couple of people recommend Ted and he did a great job for me at a fair price. He can rebuild your existing carb or sell you on that he rebuilt. Send him an email and tell him what's going on and he will suggest the best solution.

Good luck.

Don't be afraid to get in there and rebuild that qjet. It's a bit confusing at first, but once you do it your first time it'll be a cakewalk in the future. Pick up a copy of Cliff's rebuild book and check out some of his kits, otherwise I recommend quadrajetparts kits. My 305 was a whole new engine after I rebuild my quadrajet and tuned it up properly.

Keep the quadra jet arguably the best, all be it complicated, designed carbs ever. I just had my brother swap the eddy 1406 off his truck and put a qj back on it. Its a mild 350. He now gets mpg instead of GPM. Lol he loves it only problem. Is it floods easily but that's cause hr needs to adjust elec. Choke.

Make sure the accellerator pump and choke are adjusted properly, if so, then spend the time and $$ to work on it. Easiest and cheapest thing is removing the mixture screw block offs.

I bought Cliffs book, spent some time with it, my carb performs great now. Was well worth the time and money invested. I went with the brass float, and a different intake manifold. The factory ('69) intakes can be problematic. Also am using a phenolic resin spacer under the carb.
