Yes, just get a floor jack and a piece of 4x4 and lift the cab with the jack and put the new ones in, I believe the core supports come in the kit.

Same thing, I did mine with a floor jack and a block of wood. You can get a good half inch of space, which is plenty to change the mount.

I only did the 2 front cab mounts under the floorboards, the rest still look pretty good.

Ordering poly mounts today.... Install in 6 months when I get permission from the boss :rolleyes: Are there better or worse mounts? I will probably go to LMC or GMC Paul.

I got my prothane mount kit off of ebay for 60 somthin bucks shipped. That was the cheapest route, I only wish I would have got new bolts since I'm doin a cab swap. Anyway Im sure the old bolts will be fine, the vender was streetrays inc. out of Tx.

Doin my cab and motor swap as we speak........

Yep x2, block of wood, floor jack. I replaced all four and the core support. i ordered rubber ones to replace. They were not that difficult. A lot of mine crumbled out.
Note the bolts in the front two are welded to the floorboard in the cab. Air chisel works wonders :)

I don't think they should be welded. Mine were just in there with a washer, and I'm pretty sure they were original.....everything else seems to be and those bolts were just as old.

I replaced mine with poly mounts,improved the handling(less body roll)but you feel every vibration and pebble you hit.

Hmm strange. I'm the 2nd owner and mine had a tac weld on the bolt head to the cab floor.

Neither one of my trucks had them welded in.

Longhorn 70. A little FYI..... The nuts on the FRONT mounts are locking nuts which means the inside of the nuts where the threads are, are kinda triangle shaped. When tightened onto the bolt they lock on. TAKE YOUR TIME!!! and do not be suprised if you snap one of the bolts. I snapped both fronts on mine when i changed them, but they were pretty rusty.

I wouldn't go with poly mounts anyways. Got my kit from GMCPauls and the parts were good quality and fit, might have to reuse your top shims for the front cab mounts. Did the method as described above and maybe took an hour at the most.

My son just did all of mine using a jack and 2x4's as others have said. Bought a poly set off the parts forum here and no, they don't come with bolts but they are easily found at your hardware store. Took him longer to go get the nuts and bolts than to do the job (about 30 minutes).

Rubber or poly? I would have been fine with either.

I have talked and read from those who have gone both ways and the consensus I took away is that there is no discernable difference. Lifetime of poly is supposed to be longer but I doubt I will be driving this thing in 20-30 years anyway.

Resurrecting an old thread -

I’m hoping to tackle some panel alignment issues and figured I’d start with the bushings. They don’t look terrible, but would appreciate some perspective from you all. Will swapping out for new make for a better or easier time aligning the doors fenders and hood?

Yep, Best to replace all the body bushings, before you try any alignment. Makes it easier. In the long run.
