87 1 Ton 454 EFI swap to 84 1/2 ton

Ive searched and read about this swap. I have the whole donor truck, and was going to convert to carberated but Id really like to keep the efi... How bad is the swap to keep the efi? Is it as easy as pulling wiring harness and reinstalling? Also what are the opinions of goin carb over keeping efi.

You'll also need the tank and the fuel pomp

454 TBI has a smog pump on it. Can i do away with it or will that just cause problems?

Tuning can get of the pump, but if your going to pay the money.

I would a TBI Hypertech bowl, headers, good exhaust, and that way you get the free hp with the tune to take real advantage.

If you get a tunable computer it makes it easier for mods. Im doing the same thing but with a 96 suburban vortec 454.

Yes, you can get rid of AIR pump. ECM only activates vacuum to the AIR pump during cold start to heat up CAT quickly to operating temperature. No tuning is required.

If you change camshaft, exhaust or heads tuning will be required since volumetric efficiency will shift far enough from the factory tune.
