cragar wheels
i'm looking to put on the cragar 616c wheels 6x5.5 size 18x9 wheels and they say they won't work and i'm trying to figure out why that is. I have changed the front to disc brakes and so i'm not sure if they think i still have drum brakes and that is why they say they won't work. the pickup is a 1967 chevy c-10 swb 6 lug.

Re: cragar wheels
Checked the wheel out, but didnt go to their website to get the backspacing or offset. It that wheel is only offered in a high offset with a lot of backspacing, the may be wondering if you will have turning clearance issues. With the wheel size being 18 they wont worry about the rotors or drums.

Re: cragar wheels
They won't work because 5 0n 5.5 isn't a GM bolt pattern. You need 5 on 5s

Re: cragar wheels
If your wheels are 6 lugs then you should be able to use them. According to discounted wheel wharehouse anyway.
2001 Chevrolet Pickup K2500 - 6 lug 6 lug 5.5 inch or 139.7 mm Standard Offset there are many more also. http://www.discountedwheelwarehouse...._Reference.cfm The only thing is the center hole may not be big enough on some of the wheels to fit the hub. Normal Chevy truck hubs are 5 on 5. Depending on the conversion kit u used they could be the 5 on 4.75 wheels. But as stated 5.5 isn't a standard 5 lug wheel. ;):chevy: |
Re: cragar wheels
OP states 6 x5.5. Chevy pattern.
Could be the hub bore isn't large enough for your still (?) stock rear... which can easily be altered as I did on the Summit Legend wheels. |
Re: cragar wheels
the backspacing is 5.790in and the offset is +20.00mm center bore diameter is 3.075in

Re: cragar wheels
i have the 6 lug setup on my pickup and i changed the front to disc brakes but stayed with the 6x5.5 lug setup

Re: cragar wheels
5.79 will put your wheel inside a fair bit but could work on the front. Guess that depends on wheel width. Bore will not be an issue on front. To the rear, the 5.79BS will rub inside. You'd want a spacer to move the wheel out and then bore wouldn't be an issue either. I have 4.5"BS on 8" wheels with 1 1/2 spacer (net 3 1/2" BS) and it looks perfect.
