shocks?
im in the process of bagging the front of my truck, im aware i need a shock relocation bracket that im going to make myself
but my question is what shocks do you recommend for the front. im not looking to spend much money so cheapies work great if you have a part number that would be great thank you ahead |
Re: shocks?
When I put a 73-87 front end under my '63 frame I just used the applicable Monroes for the 73-87 year range. Don't have a P/N since I'm at work, but could look it up later. I'm not familiar with the '70 LCAs, but do you really have to relocate the shocks? I used the stock mounting locations on my front end, which was bagged and Z'd 3".

Re: shocks?
I'm using the stock locations
The relocate will jus move the top loop up 2" The shortest shock I can find is 9" compressed It's mainly the compressed height I'm worried about Posted via Mobile Device |
Re: shocks?
I used a Monroe #34817. The spec sheet says it has a compressed height of 9.875" and it worked for me. I was running a 3" Z, bags with a short cup on bottom, 3" drop spindles with 205/75/15 tires, and I laid frame.

Re: shocks?
Toxic shocks are good. They have been a go to shock for bagged trucks forever.

Re: shocks?
I have a set that came with my truck when i first got it (7/9" monoleaf and bags) that are toxic shocks. I think they are specific to a late 90's ford explorer.

Re: shocks?
I guess I forgot to mention my setup huh.
The front: No Z'd front end Cupped lower control arm and stock shocks Stock shocks have a 10 1/2" compressed and 14 3/4" extended As it sits right now like in my profile pic the shocks have another 2" of play to lower down The rear: Monster notch Stock trailing arms/ 3" blocks Shocks from 07 fj crusier I know in the front the shocks are not towards the outside of the lca's so the pivot angle isn't the same as the actual drop so it should be like a 2-1 ratio But I just want to know what would be the lowest compressed shocks I can get that you guys have used Sorry to be a pain, I often am lol Posted via Mobile Device |
Re: shocks?
Early Classic's kit with relocator brackets n shocks just over $200

Re: shocks?
Try the Monroes, I think they'll work for you. Having the frame Z'd or not doesn't matter because the upper shock mount doesn't move up in relation to the crossmember/LCA, they all move up together when the frame is Z'd.
