main seal
my 327 is leaking oil,how do i find out if its leaking from main seal.and if so,how dificult is it to replace it?

I guess the first step is making sure it's not valve cover, intake or tranny.
There is a chance ( I'm guessing 1 in a 1000 chance) a high mileage oil w/ seal conditioner or just seal conditioner will help unless the seal has hardened too much. A 2 piece procedure is dropping pan then rotating upper half out by pushing w/ something like a chop stick. Then rotate new one in. |

thx rufton.well i did change valve cover gaskets and tranny,how do i know if its main or just oil pan.

Mine is leaking like crazy also. I'm just waiting till I'm motivated enough to fix it. lol

The first step to fixing any oil leak is to get the engine clean. Real clean. Then get under it and look for where its coming from. You can't diagnose anything with oil all over it.

The rear of intake manifold or oil pressure line would be my first check
