Which adhesive for sticking stuff to the body?
 

I just had my truck painted, but to save a little cash I'm doing some of the things myself. It needs a new silverado badge, and I don't really want to take the fender off. I want to glue it on there. Also, I didn't buy those off-kilter looking trim pieces that that wrap around the bed under the tail lights. I just used the same trim that goes on the sides so that it would all look uniform. So of course I will need some stronger adhesive so that those don't come off.

Which adhesive should I use for permanently gluing stuff directly to the paint?

Use 3M double sided tape. You can get it in rolls so you can trim off what you need. Cleans up somewhat easily if you have to remove it.

Yeah the 3m tape is what most vent visors are held on with.

Ok I will get the 3M tape. There are many 3M tapes, but I take it this would be the only one for use on the exterior? Also since it is a tape, is it going to make the fender badge look like its sticking out slightly further than the other side is?

I have to admit I'm a little leery of using a tape to make sure these things don't eventually just fall off the truck when I'm driving down the road.

I've heard it referred to as body molding tape. Don't worry about it sticking. If both surfaces are clean you need a pry bar to get it off.

I bought a huge roll off eBay years ago. It is half inch wide and thin. Works great. Didn't make the emblems I was putting on my old bronco stick out too much.

spend a bit extra for good stuff
I found other uses too
don't make a pocket sealed by it,keeping ,moisture and dirt trapped

If you don't need it like yesterday I'll take some off this roll I have and send it to you if you'd like to try it out. It is 3M and is about the thickness of the stuff skunksmash posted but is not as wide. Just PM me your address and I should be able to get it out in the next few days.
