Means all of the holes on the bottom of the carb are the same same size. Some have two larger and two smaller holes. What are you converting from? What intake manifold do you have?

May need others to chime in here, Quarajet to four barrel conversion. Looks like you may need an adapter if you are going to keep the stock manifold.

Part number 2696 from Edelbrock's webiste
Four-hole, Square-bore to Spread-bore Adapter (.850")
Mounts Edelbrock square-bore carbs to stock Quadrajet & Thermo-Quad manifolds. 2696

A factory intake should be a spread bore. Easiest way to explain is the spread bore has large "butterflies" on the secondaries errr its bigger at the rear where a square bore is symmetrical or equally square. Harder to explain than I thought. Perhaps a pic will do much better.

Pic 1 square bore

Pic 2 spread bore

There is an adapter but it only goes one way and I forget which way it adapts at the moment.. getting old sucks:lol:

Re: Square bore?

most adapters do go either way, from square to spread and vice versa. check Summit for adaptors
