1987 Silverado 4 X 10 speakers

Rear behind the seat speakers missing in newly aquired 87 SWB, but the factory mounts and speaker grills are intact. Trying to stay as factory and stock as possible, so not looking to build speaker boxes.
Do after market 4 X 10 speakers bolt to the factory mount same as the original speakers?

You can put these made by kicker or any other brand you like. very little to no modification(new screw holes)

Are you saying it's required to modify screw hole locations in the mount and grill to mount the aftermarket speakers?

agreed, I think that any screws you may need to add/move from the O/E speaker locations, are going to be behind the finish O/E grille, and you'll never know the difference.

I used these but did have to space the stock cover out about a 1/2". They sound great.

Thanks Pont -

What about the wiring? Do these plug right into the factory harness, or is some trickery involved?

Keith there is some wiring involved, but i did not cut my wires. I just tapped in to them with these type connectors.

takes about 10 sec to tapp in and you are done. and when you want to remove just disconnect and wire is still in tact( just in case you find some NOS 4X10..)

I've got some of Bigblocks brackets as well. As you mentioned, it's not stock, but it's close and it give you a ton more options as well as better sound.
