Im about to start a lq4 swap into a 1986 k-10. Will a 87-91 efi sending unit fit in the 86 non efi tank? I wanted to go that rout with a walbro pump in ths 87-91 sending unit if possible.

It will fit the tank, but the '86 tank isn't baffled, so you may have fuel starvation issues when doing some 'spirited' driving when the fuel level in the tank gets low.

I run the one without the baffle for years. When about 1/4 tank and hard brakeing at a stop light the engine would stumble. When the fuel got lower the engine would die. I had to keep the fuel level up to prevent this. If I had it to do again I would put the baffle tank in to save some aggravation. Not to mention saftey concerns in traffic if your engine stalls.

I tell people this all the time. Tank foam can make life easier if you have no baffles. If you can get into the take through the sending unit hole, you can usually fit a few blocks of tank foam.

If you get the 87 tank it has baffles.

The 87 tank is what I use know. I just did a 5.3 swap in my 82. Solved all issues.

I have been reading alot on this. If you use an 87 25 gallon tank you can use a 92-94 s10 blazer with a 4.3 CPI sender. If you use the bigger tank you may be able to just add the 4.3 CPI fuel pump to the stock 87 sender. I was trying to figure out how to make this work for me, but I need the sender to talk to the ECM with the level and 5 volt reference. And I need it to be the newer vehicle ohmage. I'm trying to figure out a way to use a newer clip on float assembly on the older sending unit.

your best bet would be to use the stock pump assembly from the engine you have in a 72 suburban or blazer tank. They did it in this episode of Trucks! http://www.powerblocktv.com/episodes...ls-engine-swap

Anyone know what size fittings are on a 87-91 fuel sending unit ? And how I can adapt them to a-n fittings.
