first off, SEMPER FI!!!! second, yes, i do think you should replace all the ball joints. i believe the ball joints are all the same with the 67-72 1/2 tons. i was putting a 4.5/6in drop and power disc brake conversion on my 67 with the 71'+ spindles just the other day. i replaced everything i could when i took the front end apart. upper and lower ball joints, tie rod ends, bushings. a lot of the stuff was original because it still had factory rivets on the upper ball joints.

Re: 67 suspension and brakes
Actually the ball joints, inner & outer tie rods, and center link are different. They changed in 71 with the change to disk brakes. If you are using oe parts from a 71-72 make sure you get the center link! Another option is to buy disk conversion spindles in either std height or drop. This way you keep using 67-70 ball joints and tie rods. No surprises, returning parts and headaches.

Re: 67 suspension and brakes
There are a number of ways t upgrade your front end and I'd recommend starting with this link.
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...68&postcount=4 Like others have said the 71-72 dics parts are upgraded and I would recommend using factory upsized parts vs adapter parts found in some kits. Might think about using later 73 up rubber bushed arms as well. |
