51 Chevy truck brake questions.

I'm working on my 51 Chevy 3100. I plan on keeping the 235 6-banger, and mating up a mid 80's T-5 Borg Warner to it. I'm also swapping the rear end out for a 4x4 unit from an S-10. I want to upgrade to power brakes with dual master cyl. I'm quessing the new power boosters run off of vacuum, and will my 235 have enough to operate it? I looked at the power brake boosters already on the web and some says they can only be used with automatic transmissions, why would that be, pedal configuration under the floor? Any thoughts fellers?

"Pedal configuration under the floor"? That's what I would say. There aresome guys that mounted the booster/master cylinder farther back. As far as behind the cab. that would buy some room for the clutch linkage.

Your 235 will have plenty of vacuum for the power booster.

A lot of the under floor brake brackets are built for an automatic because the bracket itself is built in such a way that the clutch pedal mount is eliminated. I guess that the after market guys think most people will put an automatic in.

Who says you can't have power brakes with a manual trans ? I have a 327 / m21 with power drum brakes front and rear.
I used a bracket from no limit - pn -pbc 47 with a 79 mustang booster and m/c. I did have to use a 10# check valve in the front. The stock clutch and brake pedals work good along with the stock manual clutch linkage. The only clearance issue was the cross member under the rear of the trans. I had to use a tube mount instead of the stock square mount.

I built my own bracket and put a booster under the floor. I made it so it bolted to the original bracket that held the old master cylinder.
