Im having various work done on my '70 and while its there, im having floor pan work done. I know they dont re pop the full pan for a k5 but will a full truck pan work? What problems are there with doing this. I dont have pics to post as its at the shop. My problem is the drivers side is bad front and along the rocker/seat platform Pass side is good in the front but is bad under the platform. Im thinking it would be just as good to replace it all.

I would have the cut out work done and removed first to see what your looking at and go from there. Then see if its worth tring to fab a truck re-pop vs. some blazer panels. It may not be all that bad and the blazer panels might be all ya need. Or you need core supports etc. Just hard to tell without pics. After the cut out shoot me some pics I would like to see what ya got going on ....later

on the truck pan you would have to cut the back of the pan and bend a lip that mounts to the back knee wall. the section behind the seats is longer on the truck pan.. Also cut out the hump and drill holes I think the pan is only 2wd

Ok, I was worried the truck pan wouldnt have been long enough behind the seats. Doesnt sound too bad then, except for saving the original rockers boxes and everything else underneath.

It is a bit tedious to bend the metal and get it straight but it is possible. How bad are the floors that you are consider the full floor. It might be easier in the long run to just do the patches.

Ill try to stop by and get pics Saturday. Hes hard to catch at the shop, then I can getveveryvodys opinionson patching or replacing the whole pan.

Brian, Pat Daly here, ( Decided I had better join to learn about that monster )

Tamraz has them in stock in Plainfield, they have at least 3 right now per their Ebay link. Pretty sure they let you come pick up as well, you might want to give them a call.

I am getting ready to do the same thing as yourself, I have purchased a two wheel drive floor pan and I will cut the back off to match up to the bed. I have also built a jig that mimic the body mounts from the frame. Presently I am rebuilding the bed, cut the last 6 inches of the rear bed, bought a patch piece from LMC and welded in place. There are a few more small patches to do, I wasn't able to find the cross sill that mates the bed to the floor pan, so I made one, fortunately there was enough of the old cross sill that I was able to duplicate. I am a little worried about cutting the pan to fit, but I cross that bridge when it comes. Good luck with your project

David623. Did the pan you bought have the lip already bent at the front edge that mates with the cowl part of the front floor. I have not seen a new pan.

Would I be better off getting a new pan with the bracing or without? Everything under the old pan is solid.

What kind of bracing is the difference. I have always wondered. I am currently meshing a Arizona truck pan and patch panels I have cut probably 75% of my passenger side floor out. When I started this project several years ago the whole pan was not available. But I am still considering that option.

Is not really differant, its just that you can buy the floorpan without the forward seat brace, the one that the front of seat bolts to....

My opinion? After i fooled with all the patch panels, i should have went with the full floor. Way less welding, and no one will be able tell that the floor was replaced. Weld it to the firewall, weld it to the bed bump up, weld to the toe kick, hang a couple rockers and youre done

I think if you left the original bracing in tact it would help with keeping things where they should be.

bk04z66, thanks for your link to your build. My blazer is same color as yours. Im planning on the whole floor, just trying to find one close by to save truck freight.
