Re: speedometer on ls swap
It'll take a cableX if you want to run a gear driven speedo on an ls swap. Otherwise any electric speedo you can find would work. You can even just use a gps if your in a pinch for a short time while finding a more elegant solution.
I chose to make the tach the centerpiece of my dash, so my speedo is a function of the Scangauge II that I have. It small and runs off the ECM, has like 50 functions, one of which is speedo. The display is not large, and is digital only, but its plenty readable from where I sit, and since it can display other stuff and scan the ecm, its a swiss army knife in the cab. take a look at the "testing lights " video I posted in my build, it shows the scangauge at night, and I have some pictures of it on the dash in the build as well. |

Re: speedometer on ls swap
I am going with a 90-91 R cluster. It looks fairly original.

Re: speedometer on ls swap
I just used an electric AutoMeter speedo. It was the easiest for me at the time

Re: speedometer on ls swap
If you want to keep the original look, check out this thread:
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=512751 There's quite a few of us going with this option. |
Re: speedometer on ls swap
For the square body trucks most guys are using a cluster out of a 90-91 Blazer or Suburban. It has electric speedo and is a direct bolt in, the thing I don't like about it is that it only goes to 85 mph. I am currently working on a 120 mph speedo with tach for mine, using gauges from a 2000 Hyundai Sonata.

Re: speedometer on ls swap
yeah that's why I didn't want to go with the burb cluster too..i wanted to keep my 100mph speedo....maybe ill just have to suck it up and get it until I can get an autometer speedo.

If I didn't tell you it was used you wouldn't know it.
