Be careful & NOT pry! I'd say that's a newer than '66 mc as it has TWO fluid lines. Try unfastening the mc push rod from the pedal under the dash and slide out the push rod along with the mc. Once out, you will be able to determine why the push rod is not coming loose from the mc. Through 1966, the mc's(on the pickups, at least) had ONE fluid outlet; AND the push rod was not attached to the mc piston--it just rested against piston, or barely up into piston recess.
HTH; and I know little about the early suburbans--just assuming they use the same mc's as the pickups from the same year.

Did you unbolt the rod from the brake pedal ? to pull it out together, it would be much easier to get it apart in a vise.

I agree on unbolting the pushrod from the pedal.

That is a later model master cylinder some of which have the pushrod secured into the back of the piston. I doubt that you will be able to use that pushrod on an original master cylinder.

Did someone install that master cylinder and not split the brake lines? Does your truck have front disc brakes? It's hard to tell what master cylinder that is.
