67 Burb door panel removal

1 Attachment(s)
I simply want to lubricate the lock mechanisms and latch release etc. inside the doors on my 67 suburban. I have removed the 4 screws along the bottom of the panel as well as the arm rest and the handles. I expected the panel to just slip out from under the chrome strip at the top of the panel, but it won't. Before I damage something, I would like to know the correct way to get the panel off.

Gentle prying with a putty knife along the bottom and side will do it...

It's loose all along the bottom and up the sides, but doesn't want to come out from under the chrome strip at the top. Are there screws under the chrome strip, or does it just pull out?

There are screw that hold the chrome strip in place, but you slide the door panel down and out of it. Holding both sides, left and right, gently pull down on each side back and forth until it lets go....a lot of times it is just the vinyl has been sitting in that chrome channel so long it is a bit sticky..

Got it. The panel was stuck under that chrome strip so solid that I really thought it was screwed on. But I did manage to pull it out.

Thanks,

Bob
