am i not cool?

ok I see all these really nice trucks on here but i seem to see a trend of dropping them LOW with airbags and all....don't get me wrong they look bad a$$ BUT I kind of like the original height and look of my truck...I want to change rims and clean up the interior a bit but overall i dont want to do too much to it...does anyone else share the same taste as me? or am I alone here? IF not let me see some pics I would love to get ideas...her is my farmers truck LOL...So far bought new tires and removed the Farmers side mirrors.

Re: am i not cool?

I agree. I don't mine lowered trucks, but I ABSOLUTELY HATE slammed so far it's rendered useless as a vehicle.

I like mine lifted anyway :D

That said, I admire the work some people put into lowered trucks, but I guess it just isn't my gig.

Your running 8 lug and a GMC so you're cool in my book.

Re: am i not cool?

I like them either way. really liked the ride height of mine when I bought it, but also always wanted to lower one. Lowering it won out this time. The nice thing about doing static drops is its easy to change back to stock height if you get tired of it.

looks good to me.

I prefer stock ride height too. Solid, original farm truck types that have been freshened up. That said, I can appreciate mildly lowered trucks too.

Your truck is a solid start. It's got a lot of white though. Kinda has that Uncle Jesse vibe going on. To each his own, but I would maybe add some chrome to break it up a but if that's not your thing, cool. It's a great truck.

Re: am i not cool?

Lol if you classify cool as following a trend then you may have issues other than your coolness. Stock height is great. Look at current trucks. Stock height means anyone under 5'5'' needs a step ladder to get in. As long as your truck suits your needs and style then you come out on top.

I like your stance with the 8 lug. I like my 5 lug static dropped. If I wanted higher I'd be going for a k10.

Re: am i not cool?

I like them all, but as far as mine, it gets used as a 4x4 truck. So I like mine a wee bit lifted and off road capable.

Re: am i not cool?

I agree with all that you've said. When I got mine I had to raise it back to stock height.

here's my progression

I went to Dino's Git Down last Friday. I asked the question, "am I the only one with a stock ride height?". It made a few guys chuckle. Out of about 50 trucks, there were like 5 that sat stock. Your truck looks good to me.

Your cool and not alone.

My truck is for driving to work and when I say work it may be 500 miles away. I lowered it some but mostly it's for looks not to lay frame.
People can say what they want. My 71 LWB truck drives and rides as good as any truck I have rode in and I've owned several new ones. I have a 08 Tahoe sitting in the garage right now because I perfer my 71.
The Tahoe is mainly for pulling and when the whole family is riding together.

Every truck on this forum is cool, including yours. Looks to be a great ride! Joe

Re: am i not cool?

My first was a '67 GMC 3/4 like yours. Had the 8 lug 15" wagon wheels in the same width as yours. I loved that truck and regretting selling it years ago.

Keep yours the way you like it. I would love to get my hands on a clean '67 GMC 3/4 once again.

Your truck is cool and so are you! I don't care for the lowered stuff either, I too have a 8 holer GMC but I am making a 5 lug short out of it by way of frame change and 72 suspension. I just HAD to cause it is a big block with factory air buddy buckets power steering and brakes. It also had a speed warning. I have takin it out to put in a tac/vac dash and a tilt column. it should be super nice once it is done. Jim

You're not alone. There are quite a few of us on here who like stock height.

Re: am i not cool?

I like the stock ride height as well. I have a POS 70 SWB that has definatley seen better days. I get questions on how much I lowered it, but sadly it isnt lowered, just very weak and sagging springs. I always ask people with lowered trucks how much they spent to get it that low, then I tell them I haven't spent a dime to lower mine, just 43 years of over loading, mis-use and lack of tender loving care. Which is what a lowered truck looks like to me. Don't get me wrong, I can appreciate the work it takes to customize any vehicle, and I do like looking at and talking to builders about their customized vehicle, but I am just an old country boy that likes the look of a hard working truck that has been retired and now is just being used enough to let it know it is still useful. :ito:

I like the stock look better. I don't really like the Big wheels on anything older.

Re: am i not cool?

I'm good with stock and lowered. I do agree that lowering a truck is the trendy thing to do.
My '69 was stock with 33's in the back and 31's in the front. Looked really nice with the wheel wells all filled up. It was a 2wd short wide with a nose down attitude and plenty of pony's to back it up.

My '70 will be lower maybe about 3". The primary reason is it will be my DD and the cruiser/road tripper (we love road trips) and my wife is going cripple. Some days she cannot get in my 2wd 2500HD without help. Plus this truck will never be used as a truck this is the realm of the Duramax.

Here is a picture of my '69 right before I sold it in 2003.

If you like your truck , that's cool. I have a mild static drop 68 swb , my next choice would probably be a stock height 3/4 ton....both cool to me.

look like you had problems aligning the hood? I can't for the life of me align my hood!! it's raised in the rear and I can't get it to lower. it's off topic, sorry.

Hey, you leave my Uncle Jesse out of this!

Re: am i not cool?

I prefer stock ride height for use-ability and comfort of the ride.
And when it needs to carry a load I can load it and not be concerned about hitting the bumpstops or the ground. Plus having air assist bags on the rear it can carry the loads better.

Lowered a little is ok, they do look good with the wheels filling up the wheel wells is a great look.

Sitting on the ground I don't get it, it's a truck.

As far as the hood, read this thread....

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=276482

Back on topic... I like lowered, but not slammed trucks. I have a complete air bag setup in the boxes that I bought 3 or 4 years ago and never installed.

If I'm going to have a slammed truck it would have to have at least a 2" chop to go along with it...

Just my 2¢ worth.
