55-59 seat options
I am not sure if there is already a thread like this, but i was wondering what seats guys or gals are running in there pickups? Trying to give my dad some options. I have a bench seat from a 1990 chevy p/u in mine. I have seen a set of low back Honda buckets in another. Thanks for any input

Re: 55-59 seat options
I was keeping my own running list as I saw them on here. Don't have it with me right now, but I got most of them from the interior thread. I think this could end up being a fantastic reference if done right!
Maybe a picture(s) of the seat Width of seat What the seat came from And year of truck it is in. Just an idea.... |

Please do a deep search using the "67-72..." option in the box in the header above. It should pick up some pretty detail threads about what seat fits in a TF. Here are 07 Yukon third row seats in mine, the build thread has details on how and why.

Re: 55-59 seat options
i used 6'' chopped and modified 07 ford fusion seats
i made pedestals to raise them up to give me leg room using the same wood method as orrieg and then finished off the pedestals http://i306.photobucket.com/albums/n...0930091702.jpg http://i306.photobucket.com/albums/n...0416121812.jpg http://i306.photobucket.com/albums/n...0509121326.jpg @fabguy: you are 6 feet short. (as the shortest male in my family i know all the short jokes :D) @orrieg: you are the inverse of me. you 5'6'', me 6'5'' |

Re: 55-59 seat options
i need to take a picture of my headrests, 3x6x.25 hard foam covered in the same fabric as my seats.
double sided taped over my rear window to the back of the cab, no way my head could ever hit the back window |
Re: 55-59 seat options
OrrieG - how comfortable are those seats now that you've had them a while?
Reason I ask is that i am a fairly big guy at 215 and didn't know if GM used thinner springs or foam since they're 3rd row. I know I need to find a truck with them and try them out but was just wondering what you thought. |
Re: 55-59 seat options
Not on the road yet, but cannot be worse than the stock one that had 2x4s for support. They seem to have pretty dense memory foam, which is what my back likes, similar to our Honda in firmness. If I want or need something cushy down the line, its an easy fix.

Hello all, Another option might be an older seat. Its in a TF 55. It's 53 inches wide and with the 1 inch spacer that levels out the floor plus the electric set up it ends up about 12'' off the floor. Seat is out of a 79 Cadillac. I took off the head rests because they took up too much space in the rear window. You can only see about an inch of the seatback from the back. Very comfortable.

I did buckets out of a 99 Silverado with a console from a late 90's Windstar van. The bracket mods were pretty simple + the headrests were removed before upholstery as well as the arm rests for more symmetry.(upholstery guy is OCD) The seat back stops just below the window but don't have a pic of that angle.

Re: 55-59 seat options
Speedbump, luv the buckets. Question, i noticed you fabricated your brackets to slope just before the hump/railing for original setup. Does that make it easier to move seats back and forth? If you catch what im asking. Thanks in advance

Re: 55-59 seat options
I can't say for sure since it's not on the road. I just sat in it and the driver seat is power, but it works well. Anyway, it wasn't the intent. There were existing holes in/on the front ridge that I assumed were for the seat,(was bare metal when I got it) and holes in front of the rear ridge that I thought the same about so I made the brackets to fit those holes and tested it a couple of times during fabrication for comfort and visibility. I'm a 5'11" 200 pound guy and I fit OK. I'd like a little more leg room but I'll trade it for the comfort of those seats+ I mounted them some lower than many because I chopped the top 3 inches. I still have plenty of head room.
