leave stock stall speed tranny calls for unless you have a hiperformance engine

Agreed! If you haven't done so already, look at the converter lockup posts and kits.

Re: 350 with 700r4 - What stall should I use?

5500 +150. no, just kidding I did have one that loose once but that was a lot of horsepower ago. 22-2400rpm you know the stall act diff based on your motor and its cam and the compression your making[or in some instances bleeding off with the cam]. But Generally a 2200 to 2400 is gonna be the best for everything you can throw at the truck that is driven a lot. You really don't want your cruise rpm much lower than your stall it will heat things as fast as a transbrake.good luck with witch ever one you choose and I hope it works well for you, If your buying a custom one ask if you can send it back to have it loosened up or tightened up if needed that is pretty important. Re: 350 with 700r4 - What stall should I use?

I wouldnt go much above 2400 advertised stall. It will be dependent on your engine, etc where it actually stalls. Be ready to drop some coin compared to th350/ 400 converters.

I'm doing this same swap now. I'm also running a ZZ4 with a GM rebuilt 700r4 out of a 91 Corvette which has a 2200 rpm stall.http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...0/IMG_0869.jpg

Cam, compression, weight, gears, tires, intended use. All important factors when choosing a stall.

Re: 350 with 700r4 - What stall should I use?

I've been researching this as well, and I can't seem to find a good straight answer.

BTO sells 1600, 1800, and 2200 rpm stalls under their "standard stall" converters. Which one would pair up well with a +/-250 horse 350/700R/3.73? I was thinking the 1800? It's a daily driver/cruiser.

Truck only spins around 1500rpm @ 50mph in OD... should I go with the 1600 then???

I spoke with a tranny pro on 700r4's. Said the 1800 is fine if the truck has a mild cam. My truck idles fine. I'll let you know how it goes.
