I'm running stock brakes and added the factory booster. it stops on a dime. The engine is a 1977 305 motor I had in a donor truck. I wanted to clone the motor as much as possible to a Stock 283. I added (modified) stock manifolds, valve covers, brackets and put a canister oil filter on it. I drilled the side of the passenger side valve cover and added a baffled nipple fitting from Jegs. I placed a stock 1966 pcv valve into an elbow coming out of the manifold and connected the two. The motor breathes fine. I wanted a stock appearance battery and added a tar top battery cover to a black pep boys battery. I stripped the battery decals and replaced them with a period correct delco decal. In addition the formerly "polished aluminum radiator was roughed up and painted the proper black...Although not 100% stock it's a nod towards being original and was a lot of fun to build

Below the air cleaner snorkel you can see the valve cover baffled nipple. I have since painted it grey and satin black as a camouflage. In my opinion this is the best way to retrofit scripted valve covers for connection to a pcv. (It' so much easier to put the baffled nipple into the cover and add the threaded pcv valve to the manifold)...

Looks like a job well done! Thanks for the pictures!

Re: 5 year builds "Done"!!!!
I was going to ask if that was a 283 or not, the intake manifold looked like it came off a 283. Ram horn exhaust looks good painted up, hell the whole engine compartment looks good.
You going to drive this thing often or just take it to car shows? |
Re: 5 year builds "Done"!!!!
Very well done, cool ride.

Re: 5 year builds "Done"!!!!
That truck would be perfect if it was not for the finger prints on the ignition key. Very nice truck , very good work you do. Nick
