new time slips, im in the 12's finally

well after a string of bad luck, from breaking the rear first time at the track and running a dissapointing 13.2, then fixing the rear only to find out when i started it up it was knocking, broken crankshaft, im finally where i should be. best pass was a 12.71, best mph was 106. all throttle no bottle. man it took a while but im finally happy, now to start tuning and hopefully not break anything else.

Congratulations!

That must be fun.

GMC JUNKIE TOO 07-21-2003 10:21 PM

running a dissapointing 13.2. I would be happy to run a 13.2:D

bigjimzlll 07-21-2003 10:25 PM

if you and the truck weigh 3800lbs your HP is just over 550...you got to tell me your secrets

lukecp 07-21-2003 11:29 PM

Your hauling....i would be happy if mine ran high 14's, lol.

What are the specs on you engine and drivetrain?

fast_dev 07-22-2003 11:56 AM

Thanks for all the replies, truck is a 68 short fleet, weighs 3575 with me in it, small block 406 with 12:1 compression, dart iron eagle heads with 2.05 valves, lunati solid lifter cam with 1.6 roller rockers which makes the cam have 585 lift. victor jr intake and a 750 dp., mallory unilite, hooker super comps, csi water pump. centerforce clutch, muncie car m-20 four speed, , 12 bolt truck rear with 4:56 richmond gears and moser axles. mickey thompson 30x12.50-15 et streets. i will send pics in when i get home (im at work now :D ) best 60 ft time was a 1.7, but im sure that will break the trans so i backed it down on the launch and was getting 1.8's all day. hopefully with some jetting (needs a little more fuel) i will see mid 12's. P.S. its street legal and still looks like a primered P.O.S ha ha.

Good times! What did you do to get it that light? My truck weigh's right at 3900lbs with me in it. What was your 1/8 mile time and MPH?

SweetandLong68 07-22-2003 12:35 PM

Sweet running man! I would say with that 406 and your light weight 12s is pretty good! I am sure that 406 is putting down some NICEEEEEE HP.

have fun with it.

1/8 mile times were 8.1-8.2 at 85-86 mph. truck is stripped of anything that i could, no tailgate, rear bumper, heater, radio, inner fenders etc., has plastic seats, aluminum wheels, etc, the rest just rusted away. lol. i will try to post pics. Dev.
