Re: Doors and locks

Are the lock stems aftermarket? Or blocking it from going all the way down somehow?

Every one I have had, you have to use the key to lock them

You would be correct. You can't push the button down or lock it with the key and then close the door. The button will pop back up. It is a safety feature so you can't lock your keys in the truck...

My locks would only partially engage after I replaced my weatherstripping. If I pushed in on the door lightly(from the outside) ... I could lock it with the key. Adjusted the striker plate out a hair. Fine now.

Yes, that usually works, and sometimes after a while you can adjust them back in a little.

My door lock stems are stock i can take them off and it makes no difference. With the door shut you push them down while in the truck they dont lock. With the door shut the key will move the lock stems down .Remove the key push it the door button and the door opens not locked!So..............

Did not give it much thought but what you say makes sense. Thanks for sharing that info.

Also roll the window down and spray some penetrating oil on the back of the lock and on the latch. You can see down in there pretty good with the window down, if you use a good light.

You also can't lock yourself inside the truck. If you lock the door then use the inside door handle to open the door, it will pop up 100% of the time. The lock only locks the outside door handle.

Lock it with the door open, then see if you can push in the outside door button with the door still open. If not, there is something up with the lock mechanism. If it does lock, you have an adjustment/striker issue.
