Door fitment? 91 fit 96?
 

Will a 91 door fit a 96, as far as inner door panel and everything internally?

Not sure if this will answer your question. The door shell is the same 88-98. The door panels are not the same. They went to a different style in 1995 IIRC.
You can swap everything over,though. Not to big of a job. Your doors electric or manual?

I'm not sure of the exact years, but I have noticed a small difference among some of the 88 - 98 door shells.

This door is off a 98:

And this one is off a 95. Notice how it has a recessed area near the upper/center of the large opening:

I noticed this a few years ago when I put some 93 doors on a friend's 98 truck. The green door pictured above (without the recessed area) is one of his 98's old doors.

The metal inner panels that screw inside to hold the window regulators & hardware are shaped to match the contour of the door shell in that area. So depending on the parts that are being swapped, there might be an interference issue in that area. Luckily, on my friend's truck, his flat 98 inner metal panels just bridged across that recessed area in the 93 doors.

The recessed are is for the grab handles on 88-89 trucks.

but as stated, they can still be used.

This is correct .... I have done it as well , put 93 door on 96 tahoe .... No issues whatsoever. Door panel went right on. You would have an issue going the other way though 96 to 93

Thanks for the help guys. I have found a good solid 91 Arizona drivers door for for my 96 Z71. Just want to make sure it will work before I start disassembly of my 96 door.

The steel 96 inner door panel doesn't fit the 91 door like it should. The recessed part for the door handle is moved back slightly on the door. Seems to work ok though. But not an exact fit.
