Re: 194 head

ChevyII's came with 194's. You might try looking up their forums for sources.
Are you just trying to up your stock compression ratio on a 230-250 or 292?

don't bother it is not worth it . it's like putting a 305 head on a 350. old school .

Re: 194 head

The 194 is a closed chamber head as the one you have now is open chamber.
A 4 barrel intake with headers and a performance cam will get you where you want.
Pistons from a 307 will work in the 250. Keep the same rods as their lighter, though small block rods will work as well. Head work is needed. You can have larger valves installed in a stock 250 head. Port dividers can also be fashioned. Machining out the center boss for the headbolt that passes through each intake runner. There is a ton of stuff you can do to get performance out of a six. The power in a six is all in the upper end so rev's are required to get you moving. I put a 3000 stall in front of my Powerglide.
That's if you have money to spend!

Re: 194 head

Datguy,
I agree with aerotruk on this. You'd be better off to do a few mods to the current head than put some money into a higer-compression, flows less cylinder head.
