So if you had a 2wd truck that needs power brakes ,power steering added and you have a big block to go in it..And you had access to a 4 wd frame and free axles transfer case and transmission what would you do?Just curious looking for some opinions i know ultimately its my decision just looking for some input. Labor is free.Thanks Oz

It all depends on what you want.

Going from 2x4, to 4x4 is a big decision.

Are you into 4x4's?

There is a heck of a lot of variables to this question to just say "go for it", just to get power brakes and power steering...

If you are into 4x4 trucks, then this is something to maybe sink your teeth into.
If you are just looking for a few power options that the 4x4 chassis is offering you, then I would tend to think you are looking at this all wrong and maybe take a step back?

If it were me (because I prefer 4x4's), then I'd be entertaining the thought. But... I don't like big block 4x4's. How's that for a rub?

Thanks for the input.Its going to be big block either way.The existing 2wd drum set up on the front would have to be changed too .And i love 4 wd like i say just hashing it around thanks.

The easiest way to go 4wd is fond a 73-87 all rusted out (with a good frame) and swap your body on. If your 2wd had leaf rear suspension,that would be a plus. But,you would need all the cross members from a 4wd frame to install in your 2wd. Swapping a 67-72 body onto the later frame is way way easier and less technical.

It is rear leaf spring I have a few leads on 67_72 4wd frames .Thanks for the input!

id give my two front teeth for a 4wd around here. in winter time, open ended 2wd is kinna like a 2 ton sled.

4X4.... no question about it. But only with the 4X4 frame because its 25% thicker/stronger....

Either way you have some nice options at your disposal.

If you can get a 67-72 4wd frame you have an easy job ahead...relatively speaking

Thanks guys im a 4wd guy from way back i live in Md and we get a lot of snow.If i built a 2wd corner carver it would end up sitting in the garage all winter .I am going to make it nice but intend on using it as much as possible.Thanks for all the input i will find a 4wd frame and go that way .Oz
