Do you have the trans in? If so just match the trans angle with the pinion angle.

Re: pinion angle? level truck?

pinion angle is about the angles between the trans, drive shaft and rear. You could do it on a hillside it doesn't change the drive shaft to pinion angles.

What does matter is it the ride height being where you want it and is it at the curb weight you want. Don't set it and then decide to put the 800 lbs bed on it.

Spot on. Transmission output and pinion should be offset, but parallel. This gives you equal and opposite joint angles.

Re: pinion angle? level truck?

Trans output should be around 3 degrees down and pinion should be the same angle only pointed up, with the frame at ride height. Usually the frame is level at ride height unless you live in Kentucky and drive a ford
maybe.

Can you raise the tranny a bit to get it closer to -3?

You have a one or two piece drive shaft?

ooimpalaoo 02-28-2014 01:37 AM

Re: pinion angle? level truck?

2 piece. oh and thanx for the help tinydb84

tinydb84 02-28-2014 01:40 AM

Re: pinion angle? level truck?

All the info before is based on a one piece. Mine was 4 down and 4 up in the rear. The driveline was 6.5 for the first and second piece. Both pointing down to the rear.

ive heard that the rear should be down because when driving it will rise.. as of now my front is +5 and my rear is -5.. the shafts look like a V from the side.. just like the pic

If you have trailing arms that does not apply.
