5.3 swap advice/questions

i bought a 2004 5.3 and 4le60 trans yesterday, has the whole harness, no ecu, or pedal or mass air, I've already ordered the pedal, been looking into getting a ecu, and mass air sensor and air box. I'm looking for advice....looking for companies to send my harness and ecu (once i get it) to get chopped up and tuned, and any other advice as to stuff i might need, and was wondering if i can use my transfer case...i have a np208 or if i could buy a adapter and use a stock one from a 2004 chevy? this is my first swap and trying to make it as painless as possible

this is going into a 84 k10

here is what i got done today... http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=618692

With the DBW stuff, be careful that your components match. If you picked up the engine seperately from the pedal (and I hope the TAC, I didn't see it listed), then you'll want to make sure that you try to get TB+ECU+PEDAL+TAC from the same year and vehicle if you can.

I would also suggest going to a brick n mortar dyno tuner over the mail order tunes if you can. There is a definite horsepower and driveability gain, and it beat having to get the thing tuned twice....a large number of mail order tune customers end up getting a dyno tune after-the-fact.

thanks for the advice, i did forget to mention that i didn't have a tak, kinda sucks i ordered the pedal already...so should i order the tak and ecu together? will the system not work if they are not from the same vehicle? i plan on getting my harness and ecu taken care of so i don't have a million extra plug ins and etc that i don't need....kinda a newbie here in the LS area..doing this for power and fuel economy:metal:

If the TB, TAC, Pedal and ECU arent' from the same year/vehicle, then you need to make sure they are as close as possible. Different years used different calibrations for the pedal sensors, and certain models didn't use the TAC (even though the plug on the harness might still fit, it won't be setup correctly.)

Using components too different will result in a "DBW Mismatch" error, which can show itself a handful of different ways. Anything from lack of pedal response, to no control of the pedal whatsoever.

Was it another 04 truck/van that had a v8? If so, your fine.
