battery relocation
 

after removing the inner fenders, where is anyone one mounting the battery? since the original tray bolted on to the inner fender? thanks in advance

I mounted mine under the front pass seat off the frame rail (C30 CC dually w/SloshTubz)....

Not currently. I made the frame-work for the box from some 1.5" angle. I cut-up an OE battery tray & welded it to the bottom of the frame work. The sides of the batt-box frame are drilled & matching/drilled pieces of angle are bolted to the trucks frame. This allows me to drop the entire batt-box down for service.

I would have used the readily available 'drop-down' style of box but it didn't look like I'd be able to get it high enough on the frame rail to keep it out of sight from the rocker. So... spend the $$ & it possibly not work or DIY. Making my own ensured it was hidden as much as possible while still allowing clearance for cable installs. I also used a dual terminal battery (top posts for the starting circuit; side posts for accessory circuits & jump starting).

With everything cleaned up & painted chassis black + the truck being lowered now, you cant tell it's there unless you poke your head under the rocker.

I tried taking more pics when I took that one but it was too dark for good quality shots.

Check out Korbin's build, he placed his battery on the frame where the passenger tank would go. There are pictures on this link, in Post #472. Note he has a Blazer/Suburban gas tank in lieu of the passenger tanks.
