Ls swap radiators?

Hey guys I am looking for some ideas of a radiator for my ls swap.

I would really like to have a radiator, trans, engine oils all together in one unit.
Anyone done that yet?
What's the best thing to do?
I have a/c and don't want a bunch of coolers bunched up behind the grill.

Post pics and links if you have a good suggestion.

Re: Ls swap radiators?

Wondering if anyone has used this brand before? I called and they said they could build it with the LS setup with both in and out on the same side and the Trans cooler on driver side...

I like their shroud options:

They also have a upgraded tube option:

I was wondering about this myself... Will the stock radiator not work for the LS engine?

Re: Ls swap radiators?

I've used stock radiators from 67-72 with mechanical fan and stock shroud on 4 swaps and never had a cooling issue

Re: Ls swap radiators?

Thanks chuck, I guess I need to get a shroud

thanks truckdude, I think my radiator is good...not leaking or anything so I think Im ok...just depends on those shrouds, if they are expensive then I will probably get one of those griffins...did you have to put a fan on yours ?

Re: Ls swap radiators?

When shoppin for an LSx swap radiator I wanted 4 things

1. Made in USA - turned out to be hard to find
2. Inlet and outlet on passenger side. Hate that giant hose across the front of motor. Looks ugly!
3. Aluminum construction
4. Reasonable price

I ended up going with Griffin Dominator Series PN 8-70013-LS at Summit Racing. For a fan setup I scored a used Old Air dual fan setup from CL. Very nice piece. Having a 1967 core support this presented a little bit of a fit issue for the radiator. It's a smidge too tall. But with some fabrication everything worked out.

So griffin is not made in the USA ? sounds like a fan set up is needed ?

griffin is made in usa. Yes, a fan setup is needed. You have several options.

Re: Ls swap radiators?

We also make drop-in aluminum radiators made here in the USA, and we build them for stock setups all the way to LS conversions at no additional charge. We also include a trans cooler at no additional fee (when requested). Here is a link to our vendor page here, and we are a Gold Vendor for this site:

Re: Ls swap radiators?

I'm excited to be saving up for an RnD radiator, read a ton of good reviews. They offer a 1 year warranty against manufacturing defects, and can put trans fitting in no charge, along with the steam port, relocate top right hose fitting .

Sparky, I will let you know!

Awesome! We look forward to building your rad!

My RnD rad keeps my LQ4 running cool - +1 for Sparky.

Re: Ls swap radiators?

I would stay far far away from Griffin radiators. I had 2 in my truck in less than a 3 month period that leaked like a sieve. I replaced it with a Holley frostbite and it’s held up great so far. This is the 3rd different brand aluminum radiator I’ve had in my truck since the LS Swap and it’s lasted the longest. If you’re gonna go with any of the other brands recommended in this post, I would suggest entropy. I’ve heard nothing but good things.

Re: Ls swap radiators?

ol' timey brass/copper stock 4 row cools just fine with the proper fans and shroud.
