tranny fluid in transfer case

so when pulling my old motor and tranny and tcase, i had tranny fluid coming out the tail shaft of the tcase, now its leaking out the seal by the center of the transfer case, pretty sure that the tranny fluid case this gasket to leak...changing out the fluid tomorrow, and making a new gasket as well...other than the leaks is there any damage that could occur from the 25 miles or so I've driven so far?

Pretty sure it uses gear oil, but just wanted to double check

Re: tranny fluid in transfer case

208 should use gear lube. The seal between the trans and transfer case are known for going bad and the transmission will pump trans fluid into it causing it to be overfull and leak. Replace the seal and change the gear lube and then check to see how low you are on trans fluid.

I'm sure the seal on my new tranny is good, when I pulled the old motor I had fluid coming out the back, I'm gonna change out the seal tonight when I get off work
