Heavy front and rear springs?
I've searched a lot of threads and I am not sure I've found my answer. So here is my question I have a 72 LWB 1/2 ton 350 the spid says I have heavy front and rear coil springs. I want to lower the truck not sure how much yet as I don't want carrier bearing problems and may still need to carry yard stuff from time to time. Can I swap the springs out for standard lowering spring or do I need something special?

Re: Heavy front and rear springs?
Thats a good question...seems like I read somewhere that the factory HD springs are the same as 3/4 ton springs, but I cant say for sure.
I have done lots of research and I think I am going to get 1/2 ton lowering springs for the front and 3/4 ton lowering springs for the rear to retain towing/hauling capabilities. You may have to ask over in the suspension section for more/better info. |
Re: Heavy front and rear springs?
My SPID listed heavy springs front and rear. I used normal lowering springs from ECE and have no issues.

Re: Heavy front and rear springs?
Go with the CPP solid aluminum carrier bearing and you will never have issues again. It's far superior to the stock carrier bearings. I went through 2 stock ones, and have had zero issues with this one.
