20" Wheels
 

Got some Boss 20' wheels, I think I am going to have to raise the front up 1 3/4 inches. I cut one coil from the front plus the three inch drop spindles. If I replace the front coil with stock, will that be enough? 295/45/20 and 275/45/20, back are 10" front are 8.5....any help appreciated

I figured the ones I have now are 235/70/15-28", and these new ones are 275/45/20-29.7 inches. So I am going to have to go up some, Or buy new tires-255/40/20-28"

put 35 series tires and call it a day if its not a daily. my daily 2010 is on 275/35/24 not too bad you just feel everything.

Yea, I got the tires and rims together, and the tires are practically new. I would like to use them. Let me know if I am wrong-I just need to raise the front 1/2 of the difference in the height of the tire size, because its from the center of the wheel to the top of the wheel well that I am concerned about...right?

It'd be much easier to swap tires. If you install a stock spring your front end may look awkwardly too high, instead of looking level or raked

Dreamer, I think you are right. I am going to use some spacers to get up one inch, make sure that is OK, and then either get new tires or swap out the springs for some one inch drop springs. Probably the easiest would be to mount the front tires on the back, and get new tires for the front that are 28". The front tires look brand new, the rear tires are about %75. Not a lot of miles but a few burn outs....

I'm running 20" Eagles front and back on my '87 with no clearance problems at all. The truck is lowered 3-1/2" inches up front and 4" inches in the rear. As a matter of fact I used spacers on the rear to get them out closer to the fender openings. Looks better like that. Hope this helps.

As an added note, I'm running "45" series tires front and rear. I think anything less than that adds too much harshness to the ride. Just sayin'

Thanks, I ordered some Belltech 1" drop springs which will give me a total of close to 4" up front, should fix the problem. Seemed like the cheapest way. I put some spacers in the coils up front to raise it 1"and there are no problems with the tires now, and I like the look. I put small spacers in the back as well, the back tires barely clear the inside of the bed!
