Clearance with Dirty Dingo mounts for a 1979 k10?
So I've been fumbling around with these things for a little bit now... basically since I started swapping it in I've had clearance issues with the oil pan hitting the crossmember...
It started out here with the mounts adjusted all the way forward. http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t...pstfcvbhaj.jpg And now I've got it dropped down a little more with the mounts adjusted back. http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t...psdkvsjyxz.jpg http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t...ps6wrykq8p.jpg http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t...psxt5kipop.jpg Now I haven't made any adjustments to the long bolts because I ran out of time but I feel like that won't be enough to correct this problem http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t...psbz9wtjoa.jpg http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t...pscft7uwxm.jpg Now I've spoken to DD and they said you have to notch the frame with these trucks? Yet I haven't seen a single write up on having to perform that notch... they also said on the website under that part number there is a description saying you need to make that notch. Yet there is nothing on the website. .. here is the link http://dirtydingo.com/store/product_...1369%7B15%7D52 What am I missing here? |

What about putting some half inch aluminum spacers under each motor mount?

The part of the pan that is hitting the frame can be cut off. That is what I did. This is just used for factory harness holder. Or above said, put a spacer in place between engine and mount.

This cut gave me the clearance I needed. No other contact.

Wow so you have the cut the oil pan or cut the xmember when using the dirty dingo mounts? Thats the first I have heard of that.

Problem solved!! Put a big pry bar between the DD mount and the frame mount and held it in place while I re-tightened the long bolts. No trimming necessary.

I would think that if you were doing some off roading and a little frame twisting you might move it forward a little since you have clearance with the pan. Just saying.
