Driveshaft question????
I've got a 70 c10 short bed. It came with a 2 piece driveshaft. I want to get a 1 piece built for it instead but before I do that, I would like to know if that is possible. It has the rear end off of a 72 c10 and a T400 transmission. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you

Re: Driveshaft question????
Sure, It's done all he time. Best advise I can give is go to one of the major drive line web sites, I like Inland Empire Driveline, and poke around. They have a few good videos and tutorials. Good luck with your project, Lee

Re: Driveshaft question????
I just had a 1 peice put in my 71 LWB truck back in Januarary and love it.
I've driven it on the 2014 Hot Rod Power Tour back in June. I put 3300 miles on it in 7 days and not one issue.;):chevy: |
Re: Driveshaft question????
I have a question, if its possible to put one piece shafts then why did GM use two piece?

Re: Driveshaft question????
The 2 piece shafts use all of the same parts as the full size car shafts from the era.
The clearance around the control arm crossmember is pretty close for the diameter tubing required for a one pice shaft, especially at factory ride height. Better question, why didn't they put a slip in the rear shaft on 2 piece driveshafts. |
