Suspension change out
ok so my 72 swb fleet side is currently lowered with csp lowering spindles up front and single leaf out back. I'm thinking about taking it back to stock height for practicality for my upcoming move to washington. anyone have any takes on how difficult this would be. i don't want to swap out the spindles i have because i just upgraded my brakes to wilwoods all around. anyone who knows anything that can help would be great.

Re: Suspension change out
Lowering spindles are a solid platform, and even with the stock front springs back in there will keep it dropped down whatever the offset is on the spindles.
More leaves in the rear will stiffen the rear back up and also raise the rear end up. What part of Washington you moving to? I see you're currently in SD... in the Navy? Moving to Whidbey, Bremerton or Everett? I'm located up on Whidbey Island. Gary |
Re: Suspension change out
Im going to be heading to bremerton for a change of homeport. yeah i think if i put stock type leaf springs and new shocks in the rear and maybe a 2" lift spring in the front it will lift the front back up and offset the lowering spindle. with new shocks up front too. shouldn't be too hard of a change out.

Re: Suspension change out
My little brother is a Nuke on the Nimitz, I think he's in Bremerton right now. Are you hauling or towing up there? I find my LWB with a flip still rides better loaded but I'm taking short trips. Replacing my stock leafs after the flip (I was too low) only took a day by myself, and I replaced the ball joints after doing the spindle/drop in the front in a day, too. I still wouldn't look forward to redoing the work again. Safe travels and say hi to Stephen Stockard if you meet him!

Re: Suspension change out
Keep it low and get a cheap 4x4 or Soobaroo for the trails. From what I hear the roads are real nice and it won't matter if you are higher in the snow with our rwd, limited slip or not.
