Lots of heat in passenger side floors?
Just from regular driving, with the a/c on full bore the passenger side floor heats up a lot. from firewall to under the front seat. Normal or a sign of bad cats getting hotter than normal?
Next question, if it is a sign of bad cats. Replace with higher flowing cats or ditch the cats and just weld in pipe? We don't have emissions testing in our area so no issue there. I recently read a pretty good analysis of the performance difference between stock, high flow cats and no cats, I'm not totally sold so if anyone has experience with it let me know. Obviously the cost sways me towards deleting the cats, either way I'll do the work myself. |
Re: Lots of heat in passenger side floors?
Just because you don't have emissions testing doesn't mean you don't have to have cats. They may be able to reject you on a visual check whether they are there or not.
If you gut them, the sound is terrible. I suggest you gut it and weld in a pipe internally and put it back. That way sound is good and visual is good Just my .02 |

Of course I do feel the small tug to be a bit more environmentally friendly and put in new high flow cats. Although it is small and I'm fairly cheap and I drive one of the largest and least efficient vehicles on the consumer market so................. |
Re: Lots of heat in passenger side floors?
Get some cheap replacements, cats don't hurt performance. If you want to see why you should use them, visit LA or Denver on a cool, calm morning. It doesn't hurt that much to be a little bit more environmentally friendly. Mother Earth will thank you, she'll probably prevent a flock of poo birds from roosting in a tree above your truck some day...
