Lots of heat in passenger side floors?

Just from regular driving, with the a/c on full bore the passenger side floor heats up a lot. from firewall to under the front seat. Normal or a sign of bad cats getting hotter than normal?

Next question, if it is a sign of bad cats. Replace with higher flowing cats or ditch the cats and just weld in pipe? We don't have emissions testing in our area so no issue there. I recently read a pretty good analysis of the performance difference between stock, high flow cats and no cats, I'm not totally sold so if anyone has experience with it let me know. Obviously the cost sways me towards deleting the cats, either way I'll do the work myself.
