Side Mirror Mystery Holes... Anyone recognize?

2 Attachment(s)
So I finally got around to adding the OEM side view mirrors on my 1970 CST/10. (I'll leave the pure joy and excitement of installation for another thread...)

I found these two holes (see pics) on both sides. They look factory, although I have no idea which OEM mirror used only two holes in this odd location.

Don't mind the smaller holes they were from an after market mirror.

Ideas?

Thanks!

Those are for the factory 67-70 style mirrors, there should be one more hole just above and slightly forward of the front screw in your "71-72" sport mirror.

I thought of that. But there isn't a third hole on either side, only two. And, isn't that mirror 67-69?

Thanks for pic!

I would be willing to bet there is one there, just plugged, The sport mirror you have is a 71-72 version only, The Blazer pictured is a 70 with factory paint and OEM mirror on the tub

I was just going by what the catalogs show, and they don't give that option for 70-72. Is you blazer a different cab? It has 67-68 frond end.
Thanks.

Yes the Blazer pictured is a 70 with a 68 clip,
Here is another picture of a factory 1970 2WD Blazer I had with original paint.

I'm backing livrat up on this one the third hole must be welded or bondo'd up they probably thought since the new mirrors would cover 2 holes they would save time possibly money by only filling one hole on both sides. And I also agree that the three screw mount with the arm is a 67-70 truck/blazer/suburban mirror. I had a 70 Chevy 4wd with those Mirriors from the factory. And IMO the 67-70 style mirror and mirror arm is much easier to see out of and does give the sw trucks a nice old school look and I don't think they look bad at all.

Look close. I think you can see the filled third hole in the pic.

Just used the ellipse tool in Photoshop. Curious to see what you find out when you get home.
