posi going bye-bye-help!

if someone could answer a question about my posi, she's hanging up on my blazer 4 WD, bad around corners, and vibrating on the highway. Is ther anyway to fix this without tearing the whole thing apart and replacing the ring and pinion or can I just put a new LOc-Right or Posi unit in there. I wish to fix on the cheap, but I know how that goes. thanks

A rear end is usually like a tranny; things are moving so fast and so close together in there, that by the time you hear noise or feel vibration, the damage is done. If it's an axle bearing on the inside of the pumpkin (or outside for that matter), I know they make bearings which are offset; they will be lined up with the same spot on the axle, but ride about one bearing width to the inside in case your blown bearing wore down the axle shaft. That gives you a little extra life. No choice but to pull the cover and check it; it's a simple project.

posi

yeah, axle bearings are easy on each end , but my posi with the clutches not engaging correctly is a little different. I'm not paying some dumbass at pep boys 15000.00 to look at my diff. I've got a Eagle with a 6v92 and allison trans I've pulled out and reinstalled. I need to know should rebuild the whole thing or try to just replace the posi unit... Everything I have is old and needs money , I do'nt want to pay for something I can do... thanks bros for any infor... E
