Re: Please help. What is this part?
does that truck still have the break control , under the dash , I think what you have there is a pressure control for the trailer brake unit , the older trucks had hyd. type vrs the new truck of today being all electric , this unit you adjust the end knurled nob to gain more pressure or less

Define temporarily.

Re: Please help. What is this part?
My opinion.
If your not going to be hauling any loads with a trailer I would remove it and never reinstall it. :chevy: |
Re: Please help. What is this part?
Andy is correct. If you never intend to haul a trailer, or heavy loads you should be fine. You may experience a different wear rate on front and rear brakes than you have seen in the past. If by temporary you mean take it off to access another part, or to paint it, or something else then reinstall it, you wouldn't have any trouble.

Re: Please help. What is this part?
I have a question regarding the removal of this component. Wouldn't it be a good idea to do a hard braking test (in an appropriately safe place) after removing it to make sure the vehicle won't try to swap ends? I think I'd want to make sure of that any time a change was made that might affect the brake bias.
