Show Me Your Aftermarket Tach's

Thinking about installing an aftermarket tachometer in the ol 68. Going for the ol school look. It's got a 250 engine with 3 on the tree.

Don't really want to mount it into the dash bezel. Show me pictures of where you mounted yours. Steering column? Dash mount? Thoughts?

Thanks Guys As Always.

Attachment 1350170 nothing special here, got a sunpro cause it was the cheapest one advance had in stock but it works good. I really just mounted it here cause po had holes here already. I may move it or maybe a better matching one into the cluster. I just wanted a quick setup. I prefer here to on the steering colomn. I like them on the top of dash more but didn't feel like this cheap tach was worth drilling holes. The ones with shift lights are pretty cool I think.

Not a bad idea. Out the way but still visible. The ones with the shift lights are pretty cool.

Do you hit your leg on it?

Re: Show Me Your Aftermarket Tach's

That was my first concern placing it there but no my leg is not close at all. I'm 5"10 and a taller guy might not want it there but it's kind of to the side too so it would likely be ok for most.

In case you reconsider installing the tach in the dash. From what I can remember it didn't take alot of work to do. The tach is a Sunpro and the bezel was originally chrome but I painted it to match the rest of the panel.

That looks pretty good too. What size face is that? 3"?

Re: Show Me Your Aftermarket Tach's

It's a Sunpro Super Tach II. I think the specs say 3 3/8". I measured the face and it is around 3". It was a tight fit but I didn't have to cut the bezel at all. I just cut a hole in the clear plastic lens and the metal piece behind that.
