Is a 3 inch exhaust doable for a 65 c10 or is there kit I can bay ?

Re: 3 inch exhaust

Definitely doable, I run 3" with an (H) pipe. It used to run out the back but I changed it to dumps after the mufflers right behind the cab.

You can fit a 3" but if you don't need a 3" pipe, there isn't anything to be gained from doing so.

Brew is right, if your not runnin balls out, go 2-1/2 and run some 3" tips if you like the look of the bigger pipes.

I'm considering going with a single 3" or maybe 4" exhaust for the 400 in my K10. Everybody does duals, including my truck's PO, but they're harder to route around the transfer case.

Unless you are running 500 hp there is no reason to run anything over 2.5". Same goes for my Cummins over 4" kills performance over benefits!

I would say if your not running 500+ horsepower then 3 inch exhaust would be major overkill.

I'm running a 400+ hp 383 stroker. Is 2 1/2 inch going to be enough? Just street cruising...

Thats for the 67-72, but with the frame similarities you can probably make it work if you don't mind making a few slight adjustments to the hangers etc.

I generally don't think about buying "kits" for projects like this (i.e. non-latemodel stuff). Some racing shops or real custom exhaust places can put together a nice exhaust for less than a kit will cost with more freedom in muffler choice, routing etc.

Not every area has a legit place (and bad exhaust shops are just that, bad)...but if you do they are worth getting to know. Those same places are invaluable for stuff like intercooler piping if you ever wind up needing it.

X2 with ^^^^^. BR3W CITY is giving good advice. Get personal references from previous customers & get a muffler shop to do the exhaust work--some jobs you just cannot take away from the "pro's".
